Palmer Lee, O.D., Optometrist

Profile Image

Board certified in ocular therapeutics, Dr. Lee has done extensive work with contact lenses and taught students at UC Berkeley School of Optometry. He has published various eye care articles in national publications as well as having served as a past-president of Sacramento Valley Optometric Society. He has enjoyed watching his family grow, with the marriage of his daughter and the welcome additional of his first grandchild.


Randall Fuerst, O.D., Optometrist

Dr. Fuerst is currently serving on the Sacramento Valley Optometric Society
board of directors, and the American Optometric Association's Contact Lens
and Cornea council board of directors. He is a fellow, American Academy of
Optometry, and president of Vision of Hope, a 501C3 charity providing vision
care to underprivileged children. Dr. Fuerst is president, Ocugenics, LLC, a
research company recently awarded a $5.5M grant to work with Walter Reed
Army Medical Center in corneal wound repair. Dr. Fuerst is married to
Shirlene, and they have three children, Rachel, Ryan, and Marissa.


Scott Gittins, O.D., Optometrist

Dr Gittins has a passion for the care of his patients. He enjoys fitting people with contact lenses , especially those that didn't think they could wear them. With some of the newer mutifocal contact lenses more people are able to see glasses free. He also has a particular interest in ocular disease and treatment. After graduating from Southern California College of Optometry in 1991, he moved to the Rocklin area and joined Eyecenter. He is certified and licensed to treat eye disease including glaucoma. Dr Gittins has served for the Board of Examiners of Optometry as a expert examiner. He speaks and does lectures on eye health and career days at local schools. His most recent mission trip to provide eye care was to Nicaragua. We have supported trips to Fiji and Nigeria as well.
After living in town for 10 years his family relocated to the country and he enjoys raising Megan, Annika and Brenna his three daughters.


John Coen, O.D., Optometrist

Dr. John Coen has thoroughly enjoyed practicing optometry for over 20 years, specifically creating unique ways to solve vision problems for his patients. From difficult dry eye, to patients over 40, he sees each one as a new adventure and desires each encounter to exceed expectations. A graduate of Chico State University and University of Missouri, St. Louis, Dr. Coen resides in the Sacramento area where he has grown up all his life. He and his is wife, Dr. Brenda Coen, also at the practice, enjoy raising their sons, two of them here on earth (Jansen and Hayden) and one in heaven (Connor). Dr. Coen has served on the board of the local optometric society in the past, as well as recent trips south of the border to provide eyecare to Mexican families.


Brandon LeSueur, O.D., Optometrist

Dr. LeSueur, a southern California native, did his undergraduate work at the University of California, Riverside, and graduated, with honors, from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1992. As part of his training, he did externships at Camp Pendelton Marine Corp Base, VA Outpatient clinic in Los Angeles, and the Low Vision Clinic in Las Vegas. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Fraternity. He has been in practice in the Rocklin area since 1993, specializing in primary care, contact lenses, and cataract and laser vision co-management. He is also certified to therapeutically treat eye diseases and infections.

Dr. LeSueur and his wife recently became empty-nesters with the marriage of the youngest of their three children. They are especially thrilled with the arrival of their first granddaughter. Outside of optometry and family, Dr. LeSueur loves riding his Harley-Davidson and enjoys taking extended trips on it to new and exciting places.


Brenda Coen, O.D., Optometrist

Dr. Brenda Coen, a native Minnesotan, is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry. She is Board Certified in Ocular Therapeutics. She has been the recipient of academic awards in contact lens care and children's vision care.

Dr. Brenda enjoys all aspects of optometric practice and especially working to tailor treatments to the needs of each individual patient according to their lifestyles.

Dr.Coen works hard to balance a career and busy home life with her husband and two active boys in Auburn, CA.


Fredrick Fuerst, O.D., Optometrist

Dr. Fred Fuerst founded this practice 50 years ago. He has enjoyed extensive community involvement over the span of his passionate optometric career. He continues to actively pursue bike-riding and leads a full and busy life surrounded by his five grown children, their spouses and many grandchildren.


H. Douglas Cooper, M.D., Ophthalmologist

A native of Idaho, Dr. Cooper graduated Cum Laude in 1981 from Brigham Young University in Utah. During his undergraduate training, Dr. Cooper spent two years as a missionary in Venezuela, where he became fluent in Spanish.

He graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1985, and then completed a yearlong internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. From 1986 to 1989, Dr. Cooper trained as an Ophthalmology Resident at Tulane University, where he received the prestigious “James Allen Excellence in Ophthalmology Award”. He has also written and published numerous articles in professional publications such as “The American Journal of Ophthalmology” and "Archives of Ophthalmology”.

In 1989, Dr. Cooper settled in the Sacramento area and started a general ophthalmology practice specializing in refractive and cataract surgery. In 1996, Dr. Cooper became co-medical director and a partner of Pacific Laser Eye Center in Gold River. He holds a medical license in California and Nevada.

He is one of the most experienced Lasik surgeons in the region, having performed over 10,000 Lasik procedures. In 1997, Dr. Cooper successfully treated Dr. Richard Meister for hyperopia, making him the first surgeon in Sacramento to complete this new FDA approved procedure.

In January 2003, Dr. Cooper was the first in Northern California to obtain space age Wavefront technology. This technology allowed the treatment of visual defects that were not even measurable before, providing superior visual outcomes and clearer vision than previously attainable with older laser technology. Dr. Cooper now uses the WaveLight Allegretto laser almost exclusively for his laser vision procedures. The Allegretto laser was built from the ground up to take advantage of Wavefront technology, providing the very best visual result.

Dr. Cooper is committed to his patients and feels his most important accomplishment has been successfully raising seven children. He enjoys international travel and outdoor activities.
